Hi All!

Today I find an Hungarian firm who make some interesting things... this is the link:
http://www.magictuning.hu/smart.html
So, they said they make 102HP from my 82HP Smart Roadster Coupé(SRC) engine. Is there anybody who thy something similar chiptuning?
The price is not "too big", but not a cheap: approx. 445 euro, BUT I hasitate, because:
- Basicly my engine is 82HP. The cooler design for this power heat production. Yeah, I know "I don't keep pushing the gas pedal for hours", but the main problem is the clutch and the shifter designed for max.110Nm torgue, not for 130Nm! You know anybody who try it? Can it's works or damaged?
- Is there any difference (exept the power and engine program) the 60kW and the 74kW SRC engine? Has the 74kW engine bigger InterCooler(IC), or front cooler, or clutch... etc.?

also, sagten sie, dass sie 102HP von meinem 82HP Kluger Vehikel-Staatsstreich é (SRC) Motor machen.
(So, they said they make 102HP from my 82HP Smart Roadster Coupé(SRC) engine.)
...
Ich wusste gar nicht, das wie in einen Putsch verwickelt sind...

@ Norcy

Hi Norcy!
Here are meanwhile unites with 95, go 1o9, 11o and 115 HP. Up to now none of serious temperature problems has reported. Here also I have heard in the forums still nothing about serious coupling problems. Certainly the increased performance presses to the engine, but it lies always with the driver, wan and how he questions on this achievement. The torques partially go to 160 NM...
Some have postprepared überigens the water-cooled loading air cooler of Brabus.

Hi nafnevruK !

Sorry but I don't speak german, but I think I understand your sentensies... Sortly, you said: "No fear" for the chiptuning! Ok, and another question: what about "unites"? For example what the price an 95HP or 109HP unit? And where can I buy it? (Ehh... and what the cost of it? You know: "I don't have much money, because I just by an SRC!" )

Thanks!

Hi Norcy,

the intention of his "unit-sentence" was to tell you, that there are several software tuning files available up to 115 (!) HP for the normal "60 KW engine". The experience so far showed no major problems. But be aware that the clutch, the gearbox, the turbo and other parts of the motor may have problems after a certain while. At the moment, no roadster engine died because of a software tuning. Some board-members are drinving their tuning for more than 30000 km.
At last an advice for you: You can get a good (i do not have it, but lots of owners here in the board) Software Tuning (for example SW) for about 250 Euros in Germany. It is not necessary to drive your car to germany. Send you engine control unit to the company and they will update it for you. The reason why I recommend a german tuner is quite simple. Here in Germany the Smart-Roadster-Community is the largest in Europe. It ist definetly not easy to produce a good tuning file. You should take a tested, long-time-proved and established tuning file and NOT "Something" from a company, that is new in SMART-Tuning.

Hi Bluebart,

Thanks Your long, and detailed comment. I'm (basicly) an mechanical enginier, therefore I little bit fear for the "overload", but cheering your words. Actually I don't want an 115HP Roadster... maybe an 100HP enought. I know the german tuning companies better for the german car tuning than others, but (unfortunatelly) I don't live in Germany.
If you know an responsible company who can help for this "project", please send me. I try to find "SW", but I don't find their homepage (but the 250 euro is very good price!)... Ehh... and an another question: Where can I find an "Tutorial: How can You pick up your car your engine control unit"? I never do any similar things until now!

Thanks everything!

Norcy: Contact the tuning company. I am sure it is very easy to remove the ECU. Most of the tuners even offer only to send the ECU. I heard something about 10-15 Minutes. It should be a black box with some cables attached via plugs, maybe also fixes with some screws. You will make it, i`m sure!

So you only have to contact a logistic company of your choice (DHL, TNT ..) and arrange the transport. But: It is better to pay a bit more for a secure transport than loosing your ECU somewhere in Europe (this could lead to major problems).

Thanks Jens!

I try it, but I need to decide the 95HP os the 115HP version. I think the 95HP version is good, because, if I "push it" maybe I don't kill the engine. But otherhand the 115HP version get more power if I need, and don't need "push" too long time... What do you think?
