Some idiot cut my softtop yesterday night:



I don't have to say how angry I was when I discovered this today when about to go for a ride in the nice weather.

Now I am wondering if there is any problems getting a new softtop and what that might cost me. Does anyone know?
Of course I have an insurance but there is a lower limit up to 400 euros that I have to pay myself.

Unfortunately, expressing my sympathies is all I can do for you, because I do not know where to get a new softtop and at what price. Check with the Smart center in your area (if any) or with Smart online if they can help you further.

If this happened to my car I would want to kill those stupid idiots who did that. Did you ask the neighbours or people in the shops and bars around if they saw something? Maybe this could help. I would also report this to the police because they might have caught somebody the same day/night who did the same to other cars. Better try all options, maybe you at least get lucky on finding that guy. As first aid I would tape the cut so that it does not get any bigger and it will not get wet inside.

I cross my fingers for you and hope they will find the guilty one. I know how it feels when someting happens to the car, believe me.

I have spoken to the police but all they could do was to file a report.
The policeman was very nice and told me that he once was interested in buying a roadster, he had even tried it at SC.
Unfortunatly I live on a "dead" street without any bars and most appartments does not overlook the cars so I have small hopes on anyone seen this. Yesterday was "Valborg" which in Sweden is a night where everyone under 20 gets really drunk and are out partying.

Hopefully that will be my insurancecompany that pays most of that bill, my concern is most if it is possible to get a new one.

I am actually glad that I didn't see this happening because if I did I don't know what I would have done.

i have payed 787,52 Euro in the year 2005.

It seems that also the sidebars have been damaged by the malicious perpetrator(s). If the cuts are shallow, they might be repaired easily, after which the bars can be painted again.
The softtop is quite expensive, as it consists of more than just the textile cover. I do not know whether the textile could be replaced separately, without the necessity of mounting a complete sottop system, but the system is still available. The prices the others have mentioned seem to be correct, unfortunately ...

No, the sidebars are not damaged it is just the reflection of my arm as I was taking the photo.
I have spoken to Smart Center and it will cost 12 000 SEK (1200 euro) but most of it will be covered by the insurancecompany.

Well, I have very little hope of finding out who did this to my car. Right now I am glad if I can get the roof fixed as soon as possible.

And I am looking forward to moving out of town in September where hopefully noone will touch my car. This was the second time since I moved last summer that someone trashed the roadster.
